Salvation Army needs help with food sorting

The Salvation Army is looking for the following food service volunteers:

Food Sorters (5+) to organize food into bins and boxes, check for quality of goods, and portion certain foods.  Food drives usually run towards evening times or weekends.  Sorting the food after a drive can run a few days in the warehouse during regular business hours.  Must be a team player, motivated, cheerful and helpful.  Training is provided.

Bread Donation Sorters (5+) to sort and bag portions of daily donated bulk bread products from local businesses.  FoodSafe practices are implemented including hearing a hair net and gloves.  A stool or chair can be provided for mobility concerns.  Volunteers are needed Monday to Friday during the morning for 1+ hour shifts as your time allows.

Hamper Distributors (5+) to fill orders and pack food hampers (including specialty hampers) under the guidance of the warehouse supervisor.  You will assist clients in carrying out hampers to their cars.  Must be able to lift banana boxes and push hamper items in carts. Volunteers are needed Monday to Friday for 2+ hour shifts as your time allows.

Those interested in volunteering should contact NexusBC Volunteer Services at 250.545.0585 or email
